Braulio acquired a 4 years electronics certification from Greater Lawrence Technical School. In 1998 he graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in Plastics Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Mr. Polanco has over 18 years of experience in the plastics industry with leadership roles in R&D, NPI, Engineering, Quality, and manufacturing at companies of all sizes ranging from 150 million to 38 billion. He has gained experience with Class I, II, & III medical devices and pharmaceutical industry. He worked for many industry leading companies including, Kimberly-Clark, Teleflex Medical, Terumo Medical, and Nypro HealthCare involved in all phases of the product life cycle from concept to launch. Braulio currently holds 6 national and international patents and has 7 patent publications. He is a Certified Master Molder I, Certified Extrusion Master I & II, Six Sigma Black Belt, and is an extrusion consultant and instructor. His creativity and innovation has allowed these companies to generate millions of dollar in saving and new business opportunities. Braulio is considered a plastics industry leader and a subject matter expert in extrusion, polymer characterization, and validation for medical devices.
Mr. Polanco is currently a Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Abiomed focus on production of the world smallest heart pump. Previously he was Senior Program Manager at Nypro HealthCare (a Jabil company), responsible for managing engineering programs requiring injection molding components, automated finish assembly, and packaging for combination drug delivery auto-injector medical devices. In 2014, Braulio was a Quality and Compliance Consultant for Maetrics developing validation strategies in the scientific molding field. Previously, he worked as an Extrusion Program Manager III at Vention Medical focusing on high precision custom extrusion tubing and medical balloons. Mr. Polanco was a Senior Engineer in New Product Development at Terumo Medical, where he specialized in catheter and introducers kits for Cardiovascular Femoral and Trans-Radial access. For 10 years, Braulio worked in several leadership roles at Kimberly-Clark including new product and process development, commercialization, and manufacturing support. Braulio’s process expertise includes, extrusion of medical tubing, injections molding, Cast Film extrusion, spunbond and meltblown fiber spinning, resin compounding, and polymers characterization.
